CAPEXIL, the national trade promotion platform of the exporters of chemicals and allied products, has been witnessing a steady increase in exports to Vietnam over last three years but its share in the Vietnam market as a whole is not at all encouraging. CAPEXIL deals with a wide variety of products starting from Rubber Manufacturing Products including Tyres & Tubes to Glass & Glassware, Ceramics & Refractories, Cement and Asbestos Cement Products, Paints, Varnishes & Pigments, Paper and Paper Products, Books & Publications including printed materials, Plywood & Wood Products, Graphite Electrode and explosives, Ossein & Gelatin, Graphite, Stones and Products thereof, Bulk Minerals, processed Minerals, Safety Match & Fibers etc.
Export statsics released by CAPEXIL’s reveal steady upward trend inexports to Vietnam. From Rs.84.6 crores in 2002-03 it went up to Rs.130.07 crore in 2003-04 and further to Rs.164.04 crores in 2004-05 but the share in the Vietnam market is negligible3 percent. In an interview by Amitabha Sen, the CAPEXIL Chairman, Mr. S. K. Ghosh expressed the hope that with the signing of the cooperation agreement with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, exports to Vietnam in future would increase significantly. During his recent visit to Vietnam Mr. Ghosh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with VCCI for mutual support and exchange of information needed for promotion of two way trade and transfer of technologies between our two countries. CAPEXIL has identified some products and steps are being taken to raise exports of those products to Viuetnam, he added.
CAPEXIL’S EXPORT TO VIETNAM (2002-05)
Besides exports, CAPEXIL has also expressed its eagerness to help Vietnam export some of their products in the Indian market. Such products include Coal/Coke, Wood Pulp, Logs/Sawn Timer, Natural, Synthetic & Reclaimed Rubber etc. “CAPEXIL would be happy to provide contacts/support to Vietnamese exporters to market these products in India. In addition, CAPEXIL can also assist Vietnamese business Houses/Investors in locating suitable partners for technological conversation and Joint Venture Projects, particularly in the field of Rubber Mfg. products, Glass & Glasswares, Refractories, and Ceramic Products etc.”, said Mr. Ghosh.
